Possible problem with my overclock settings?

OH right

even if so though, impossible a 3930k beats it - these scores are way too low for a chip overclocked this much

RAM? Frequency & timings? Running it in triple channel? Single core OC or all core OC? Are the clock speeds staying steady throughout the test?
Difference with the 3930k could also just be generational IPC improvements from Westmere > Sandy Bridge.

Quick look at videos on youtube and it seems that X5680 stock is around 800cb, while 4.5GHz is up to 1000cb

just a quick question as I decided to run cinebench this evening for lols and saw this

i don't even see how this can make any sense, my cpu def isn't thermal throttling or anything, anything that could be causing this? p sure it's the source of my gpu bottleneck(s) also

Is the Xeon X5650 score from a dual CPU socket system? It says 12C/24T...

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

That benchmark from Cinebench is from a dual socket system with two X5650's lol.

892 is low for a hexcore westmere though but 900cb is still "decent", steam usually sucks up like 50cb for me. Are you running like sub 3000mhz on the uncore and really slow memory?

the latter most likely yh, haven't touched the settings in a while

i suppose redoing the settings it is then

Not from the quick Google search I did. CPU speed isn't the only determining factor.

doesn't seem too far out of reach, only 100 points which can be caused by background usage, i know you said you closed everything, but you need to keep task manager open and see if the usage is at 0% or 1%.

slow RAM could also cause this 100 point gap, and Uncore.

yes it is, Sandy Bridge was a huge leap forward, that's why it's so well known

I've noticed sometimes my cinebench scores are upto 150cb lower sometimes, Windows 10 definitely does a lot of garbage in the background. It really really loves to add NTFS compression to my files so it can steal more of the space I'm hardly using on the windows partition. My scores have gone down a little, probably due to the Spectre mitigations, ect. Then again sometimes for periods of time my scores will be low for no real understandable reason too.

I generally make 1030-1070cb at 23x200/4.6ghz and 3400mhz uncore on my X5675, high 900's should be more around where you want to be at 4.5ghz if not right about 1000. Provided of course you don't have a low end motherboard and have sufficient cooling to do it, high end air cooling is plenty for these.

Just remember not to go past 1.35v on the QPI/VTT/IMC and you should be fine!
