4:3 stretched to 16:9 on a 21:9 monitor.

abracaslav

Is there any way to play a game on Fullscreen while not having the native resolution?

My problem is that I would want to play at 1920x1080 (16:9) on my 2560x1080 (21:9) monitor. That's all good. I can change the resolution inside Windows or change it in NVIDIA Control Panel so I have black bars on the sides. I want to play on 1400x1050 stretched to 1920x1080. Thats fine too IF I play on a monitor with that resolution. But I would want to play on my 21:9 monitor downscaled to 16:9 with black bars while having the 1400x1050 streched TO 16:9. The problem is that when I open the game the resolution resets to the native and statches to that so It's 1400x1050 stratched to 2560x1080 instead of streatched to 1920x1080.

I find it very difficult to explain what I would want to do so here is a graph.

I'm sorry if the image is hard to see/understand but I am in a hurry and I can't figure out another way.

If the game supports manual adjustments to aspect ratio, sure.

Change the Windows resolution to 1920x1080 and the in-game resolution to 1400x1050?

@abracaslav In Nvidia Control Panel, under "Adjust desktop size and position", then under "Select a scaling mode", did you select "Aspect ratio"?

Also under "Perform scaling on:", did you select "GPU"?

Just to be clear, you WANT the image to be distorted?

Also, what game?

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Probably because it wants to conserve aspect ratio. Perhaps you need to adjust display settings to stretch the image instead.

Try setting the desktop to the resolution you want, disable scaling so it has the black bars.

Then run the game in windowed mode and set it to the same desktop resolution. if the game has a 'borderless windowed' option, use that.

This should work. Its a similar trick i use to force Diablo 3 to run 21:9 on my 16:9 display.

Mentioning how you did it would be useful for future reference.
