Right now, I'm just starting out as a young editor using free editing software, considering I just burned by years of saving to create my gaming/editing setup.

My system:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X- 4.1-4.125Ghz overclock

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0

ASUS PRIME B450M-A/CSM

Team T-Force Vulcan DDR4 3000 (OC to 3133mhz) 16GB-2x8

ARCTIC FREEZER 33 ESPORTS EDITION

ADATA SU800 2.5" SATA III 1TB SSD

DIYPC-F2-O mATX MiniTower

Is this overkill for Davinci Resolve 15 for 1080p 60Fps Editing or am I good?

Should be fine, just make sure to turn down your bitrate, by default its INSANELY high. Depending on your footage youll need to adjust it

Wanted to ask are you getting good playback with your computer? and are you able to edit off any UHD footage without transcoding or optimizing media?

no i dont think you can have a computer that is over kill for editing the only thing that's going to happen if you have a beast of a computer is everything is going to run faster and smoother for you

with that being said i have a higher graphics card and processor and i do 4k editing which demands more if you only doing 1080p you should be fine but if you think you might ever want to move up to 4k i would do your research and make a good upgrade dont go cheap if you can help it

also .. you can always compress and covert your files to smaller sizes if you ever fun into performance issues .. that should help

as far as gaming .. that should be good for light gaming or a good selection of games but i cant help you out much in the gaming department i mostly just edit video

i'm not much of a pc gamer

but now that i have a rig i might get back into it ;)  good luck!
