I'm thinking about building a storage server 3U (12 drives, 15 TB each) for my plex library. Is there any storage cases I should look at, and any specific raid cards. Also for streaming using plex should I go threadripper, i9, or xeon (about 15 clients on the server at a time, some streaming 4k content)? I Will also try to run a raid 10.

what os?

Id get a gpu here with plex pass, much faster and cheaper than cpu power.

Do you mind used? Dual used xeons will be faster than a threadripper and cheaper with ecc registered support.

Id look at used servers like a dell r720 or r820. Then get a sas box with drives.
