PSU recommendations with GPU upgrade (RX-580)

grss1982

I finally got this Sapphire RX-580 (http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/580-8.html) at a very sweet deal and I was wondering if I can just plug this in my current rig WITHOUT upgrading the PSU as well.

Specs as follows:

CPU: Intel i7-3770

Motherboard: MSI MS-7798

RAM: 16GB DDR3 (2x8GB)

GPU: ASUS 660 Ti (192-bit & 2GB DDR5)

Case: Antec 300

Storage: 1 each of a Seagate and Western Digital 1TB drives + 1 500GB Seagate HDD

PSU: Seasonic S12II-620

ODD: ASUS DVD-RW

Cooling: Deep Cool Ice Edge Mini FS + 3 x 120 mm Fans + 1 x 140 mm fan

The reason I ask is because the Seasonic PSU will be 2 years old by March of this year. In addition, folks here in LTT don't look too kindly on this PSU because it's of an an old design. Even if Jonny Guru rated the 520W version of this with a 9.7 score folks still knock it for it's old desgin: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=185

So should I upgrade the PSU becuase of the "new" video card? Or will I be okay sticking with it?

I do have a spare PSU but it's basically 8 years old now. It's a SilverStone SST-ST60F-P.

By the way neither of the PSUs has ever seen any overclocking just powering cards like the Radeon 7950 and the 660 Ti.

I'm open to suggestions for a new PSU but I can' go over $80 though. :( Also I don't mind a non-modular one if that helps. :)

Thanks in advance for any inputs on this problem of mine. :D

EDIT:

Current available PSU in my locale under $80:

a) Corsair VS650 650W

b) Corsair CX650M 650W

c) SilverStone ET-650B 650W

CPU: Sempron 2500+ / P4 2.8E / P4 2.6C / A64 x2 4000+ / E6420 / E8500 / i5-3470 / i7-3770
GPU: TNT2 M64 / Radeon 9000 / MX 440-SE / 7300GT / Radeon 4670 / GTS 250 / Radeon 7950 / 660 Ti

I think you'll have a hard time maxing out that PSU. You should be fine.

"uhhhhhhhhhh yeah id go with the 2600 its a good value for the money"

The PSU's wattage is fine, though the PSU's quality is low.

You can run it, but the PSU doesn't perform very well, it lacks protections and it's loud. You should upgrade it, but don't have to.

I'm leaning towards that but I current available PSU in my locale under $80 are well limited:

a) Corsair VS650 650W

b) Corsair CX650M 650W

c) SilverStone ET-650B 650W

And since I don't overclock or any of that, that's all I'm willing to spend on the PSU.
