Internet connected but won't work until restart

Hello, all. New to the forums.

 

I've been having this issue since I purchased my new laptop, and the issue is infuriating.

 

What's happening: I am connected to the internet and everything is working fine. Eventually, the internet all of a sudden just drops out and does not work again until I restart. It doesn't matter whether i'm wired in, or on wifi. It happens the exact same way. When it goes out, it still shows that i'm connected. Windows tests the connection and says that nothing is wrong. I have another laptop sitting right next to it running Windows 10 and it never loses connection.

 

Machine:

- Alienware 7 R5 - Killer Internet Control Suite (e2500 ethernet controller)

 

What I have tried so far:

- I've turned off the power saving options in the advanced section for each of the 2 network adapters.

- I've gotten rid of the Killer suite and only installed the necessary drivers.

- Disabled any power saving options inside of the POWER OPTIONS profiles.

- Disabled RSS since I read somewhere that people have seen that it causes issues in Windows 10 sometimes.

- Updated the software on my home router - however the issue happens both at home and at work. 

- Tested my ip and configured my router's MTU to the max that my laptop is receiving.

- Finally gave in and contacted DELL. They are the ones who installed the basic drivers in the 2nd try above. This didn't work. They then tried other advanced settings inside of the network adapters that did not work. A few annoying scheduled appointments later that they decided to not contact me for, then act like it was my fault, push me off on multiple other techs - none of which seemed too network savvy during - they gave up and are resorting to having me reinstall the OS on the machine.

 

So the problem with reinstalling the OS right now is that this machine is working around the clock on recording and encoding. I'd really rather try anything else before wiping the entire thing and having to get everything back on here. It's very frustrating. 

 

Any ideas are welcomed.

I've tried releasing and refreshing the ip in command prompt and still nothing

Did you set a static IP address for the computer?
Does the problem happen when another device is getting online?
When the internet "doesn't work" anymore can you ping to 8.8.8.8 and can you ping www.google.com ?
When the internet "doesnt work" can you ping to inside devices and can you reach them with other protocols (for example a fileshare)?

Ok so it is back to not working...

 

I tried pinging google.com - works. No packet loss. Looks normal. 

 

I then disconnected my ethernet, tried again, and it "could not find host google.com." I replugged it in, let it show connected again, and I can ping google.com fine. Still can't connect to a web page, load discord, or do anything else that requires internet.

 

I can ping 8.8.8.8 as well with no issues.

When uninstalling Killer Suite, did you also remove the device from device manager and reboot?

I would first try the following commands to see if it's an IP address configuration or DNS problem & reboot.

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

If that doesn't work, also try uninstalling all Killer software & drivers again, remove the device from device manager, reboot and install drivers from Killer's own website.

Done and still failing. I have a contact request in to Killer to see if someone there who is more familiar with networking issues can help.
