34" ultrawide monitor

uvshapira

Hi community!

I am looking to buy a new 34" ultrawide monitor.

I am going to use it for video editing, and because it is offline editing and not online, I am ok with 3440 x 1440 res. I am trying to cap my spending at $800

I am thinking of going for the  Dell UltraSharp U3415W, but I thought before going on and ordering it I should try and ask around for people's advice!

Thank you!!!!!

Grab this for only 477 bucks.  34" IPS 144hz.  It will make your video editing experience very smooth and silky with the 144hz.  That refresh rate is not only for gaming, your desktop will run @ 144hz, and things will be soo fluid and no motion blur and what not.

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface / KRK Rokits 10" / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse & G915 Linear & G935 & C920 / SL 88 Grand / Cakewalk / NF-A14 Int P12 Ex

That is where the problem lies my friend Im in the same hole.  Ive been using 4k resolution for almost 5 years,,, ever since it came out,,, and I can not downgrade to 1440p ,, I know I can't.  I mean if you want to see more on your tracks in your video editing and what not if that is important, and real estate is important then moving down resolution like that you will not like it.  However you will notice a smooth 2D experience, and video editing experience.  If you play a game you can do 144hz.  Now if resolution is important then let me get you a 3440res monitor.

If I were you, and if you game a bit,, and want a smooth experience,, then I suggest 144hz even tho video editing or videos are 30fps or 60fps,,,, still the motion will be smooth and fluid... If you can toss 800 bones,, then get this

Acer Predator Z35P bmiphz 35" Curved 1800R QHD

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

I don't really game at all -- too busy editing :/ :)

So compared to the Dell I've referenced -- the plus of Acer is the refresh rate and minus are the price? Anything else I need to know about the difference between the two?

Also I see the ACER is huge. I have some space issue, I don't want the length to total much more than 33"

You know what, if you don't game I don't think you should pay gaming monitor price for video editing.

For video editing 60hz is fine, and movies are 24 or 30fps anyways.  Your good to go, as long as there's not major motion blur.

Im putting myself in your shoes..... If I was video editing I would want these things out of the monitor.

RGB color gamit 99 or 100 percent coverage

IPS Panel

high resolution

How many inches do you want ?

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

34 ultra wide. Don't care about the degree of curve :)

Do you think there is something better out there than the Dell U3417W (or 15w)

I have LG 34uc88 3440x1440 75Hz and I like it very much. Nice stand, with good adjustment options. It has a VESA mount but it has to be kind of thin on the edged to fit in.
