Hey

I am looking to expand my storage as my 1tb wd black is near to the brim. I came across the seagate 2tb sshd for less than a 2tb black. Will The sshd give faster performance with it being used just as a data drive? (I have a 120gb ssd for os).

Thanks.

Eh. Only for things you use frequently. The SSD part of it is cache. So it's best to use things like that for your OS, but it would do fine as a data drive.

You'd notice the improvement in Boot time, as their optimized for that specifically, as far as gaming goes, its widely dependant on the types of files your loading, many tiny files, not so many huge files, what goes into the cache isnt up to you, but the algorithm it uses to determine it...

Even grabbing a 128GB SSD, halving it, 60GB for caching a mechanical drive of your choosing, 68GB for Windows/Programs.

^Best of both worlds in some cases...ample storage for cache, ample mechanical storage for games 68GB of dedicated ssd for speedy windows.

Or just grab a single bigger SSD for the most improvement.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I already have a 120gb ssd for my os so I don't really want to invest in another. Just wondering what would be better for games, a 2tb wd black or a 2tb seagate sshd.

Eh, I'd only use a SSHD in a PC for someone who doesn't know much about computers and doesn't want to deal with multiple hard drives /SSDs.
