So im going to be replacing my LG G6 for my birthday in febuary so i thought id look for some phones so i know what i want. Im thinking the MiMix 3, the slidy boi, but i would like some suggestions on what to get.

my main usecase is watching youtube, being on the forum, taking pictures of my build and discord chatting.

I want something with better performance then my G6 too.

Budget is ~€500, not quite sure yet.

no notch, bezels are fine, and a huge plus for a headphone jack.

im not especially good at picking phones and none really exite me either atm so please suggest me some :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Have you seen the video on the xiaomi mi 3? You could consider that.

mi mix 3 or the phone from 2013? i mentioned in my OP that i was looking at the Mi Mix 3, it looks nice and the only thing i feel its lacking is underscreen fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack. if it had that it would be perfect i think

I'd recommend the oneplus 6 then, I know it has a notch but it has the headphone jack and a solid camera. There aren't that many phones with the under screen fingerprint sensor that I can think of. I guess you could get the oneplus 6t but that has a notch and no headphone jack.

oh yah, forgot to mention. no oneplus. none. they have had too many shady things going on for me. sending back literally everything happening on the phone was what initially made me think that way and with new crap like that(although none THAT bad) over and over they have lost 150% of my trust.

Fair enough

I honestly can't think of a new phone that checks all your boxes. I think you'll have to give something up.

What exactly is your source for that? I can't imagine that OnePlus steals much more of your data than Huawei or Xiaomi does. Both are companies that have an in the Chinese government. Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I don't think you can just discount OnePlus on being "shady" when their competitors are just as, if not more, shady than them.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Yeah, I agree. All three are Chinese.... Huawei, I think I would distrust the most, and then OnePlus next. OnePlus had some issues with buyer's security with the 5t.

That was a website-side issue, out of their control. I'm surprised that you trust Xiaomi the most, as they seem to have their hands in the government's pockets more than anybody else.

I honestly don't know much about Xiaomi, so this was good to know.

Yeah. They're basically the Apple of China, and the government treats them pretty special. I'm not sure I would trust them with my data, but these days, i'm not sure I should trust anyone with my data.

They admitted to sending back logs of what app you had opened, when you opened it, closed it, how long you used it for and all tied to your device I'd which as they sold it to you, can be traced back and be pinned on a you and sold off or kept for China. That's the one I recall as I had a Oneplus device at the time. Since then there have been a couple more major fuck ups, like leaking your PayPal / card info from their site.

Again, source please? I've never heard of this before. Also, the info wasn't paypal. There was a security flaw in their credit card ordering system about a year and a half ago. Paypal and Visa Pay weren't affected.

But like I said, I think you're going to have to give up something to get the phone at your budget. I personally think having no notch is what you should be giving up.

I can live with a small notch, I just really don't like the iPhone or Pixel 3 size ones. Honestly it's probably just fine as long as the notch doesn't eat into a 16:9 aspect
