New PC experiencing a problem I've never encountered before.

Wulfscar

Hey LTT Forum people! I am experiencing a really crappy problem with this new PC I have just gotten. There are these small pink horizontal lines that are moving all over the place on my screen. As well as my GPU is no longer recognizing my Display Port Cable - it will however recognize my HDMI. I think I know where this problem is going but I am hoping by the grace of god that one of you fine upstanding folks would happen to know if there is anything at all I can do to fix this issue. Enclosed is a photograph of the pink lines I am referring to.

That may be a damaged GPU/Cable/or monitor. Try connecting a the monitor using the same cable to a diffrent pc, does the problem persist?

Try using your iGPU if you have one (processor built in grahpics), does the issue stay?

The cable and monitor via display port still functions normally on my old PC, yes.

I have had the same issue before. On 2 gpus one came in post new and done this. I had to return it. The other done this cos my HDD failing. Where did you purchase it from? I seem to find some companies (pc world) have real faulty gpus  but they are really good at returns. Better than the manufacturer as it's done withing 3 days.

Because of the pricing for buying parts I ended up opting for purchasing a prebuilt and I got it from iBuyPower.

Send it back soon as possible. Should have been turned before they sent it. Just sad to see no one see that before it got to you. Hopefully they will test the new one.

Yeah I am extremely discouraged by this situation. Stuff like this never happens to me usually - maybe I was just lucky until now. I'll contact them later this morning I guess. Shipping it back to the US isn't ideal for me or what I wanted to hear but I was expecting it to end up having to be the case, sadly. Thanks for the info.

That's gonna be a bit of a headache. Hopefully they will sort it out with no problems. There is a possibility of damage in transit. Which can also give you these defects.. Hopefully they will sort the return quickly. Hope it all works out for you..
