4+8 Pin Power Connector

Hey maybe someone still reads this... 

I just baught a new Motherboard. (Z390 Aorus Elite) and it has a 8+4 Solid Pin CPU Power Connector. 
My question here is: 
Is the additional 4 pin required? My current power supply only has 2x4 Pin. 
Im about to use a Intel Core i7-8700k.
