Pretty much. Many modern games have resolution scale sliders which makes even those downsampling options on the card's settings package irrelevant if you're shooting for a native resolution experience with a higher rendering resolution for the actual game.

With the current prices of higher resolution panels; not really. And as said above, many games even include such an option even!
