constant microstuttering.

Go to solution Solved by narrdarr,

when i use the netflix app or chome i have this problem.

switch to using firefox and it went away.

i'm experiencing a weird stuttering issue where my machine will skip every second.

that means video's will skip every second, the rgb lights on my keyboard will stop for a bit and then resume, scrolling on webpages stutters etc.

my cpu usage looks like this, with lots of little spikes:

i'm running Windows 8.1 Pro.

though I've had issues like this with multiple monitors and GPU drivers that didn't install cleanly.

interesting. i have 3 displays, and i've had to reinstall Windows last night because of nvidia drivers messing up. i'm running 391.35 at the moment, which is the driver Windows update gave me. i don't want to update it in case it starts blue-screening again...

Might need a DDU and a more recent driver branch? Windows Update causing this would make sense. Something in the I/O System is highly likely to be causing this.

You shouldn't need to reinstall Windows. DDU will strip the drivers and you can clean install a new branch. You might need to turn Windows Update off for a while, though.

yeah i did that with the old Windows install. i disabled my ethernet controllers, DDU'd, and reinstalled. same bluescreen. i tried the latest driver and 397, which is a few months old. same bluescreen.

Hrmm... can you try rolling back even further on drivers?

i don't need to right? and i just don't wanna risk this Windows install. because it's Windows 8.1 if i reinstall it i have hundreds of updates to do and reinstalling takes ages anyway because i have a server motherboard so reboots take 5 minutes.

Well, if the system isn't currently stable, then it's about flipping hardware or uninstalling programs until you can find the fault.
