What kind of temps were you getting before it happend? I think you may have installed the cooler wrong and it may have turned off when it hit TJ Max

There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Have you tried with a different monitor? Or maybe try with a different graphics card if possible to make sure that is the problem.

Yep. Temps are important. Unfortunately, the next step, assuming something is broken (hardware wise) , is to troubleshoot parts individually. Obviously starting with the graphics card and working your way based on whatever you think could be the next possible culprit.

There was a guy on this forum who didn't do his arctic mod properly (because apparently the install isnt simple)  and ended up with a brick.

Was posted less than a week ago but cannot find it... I hope this has not happened to you...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Sound like a short, but since you said nothing was touching just try reboot without the card and use the onboard graphics to check is it a card problem.

Still nothing, and I've noticed there is a very small amount of some liquid around the middle of the coils

Yup, just start pulling things out, I like to start with RAM, pull out all but on stick and go from there, get a differnet GPU see if it works, try a TV or another monitor, see if they work, so on and so forth.

Yup its the card, this happened to me a couple months ago. Try to boot without the card installed and your system should power on right away.

On first thought I would have to agree with the others... I think you must have done something wrong with the cooler and thereby the temps got way to hot... Does your motherboard give you a boot error (LED, sound or whatever)?

what coils? So you are saying you can't boot up with just onboard graphics? Are you using the arctic accelero thingy? is that what is leaking out?

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place
