I purchased an alienware 17 r5 and ended up returning it because i have had multiple problems with it. I'm looking to replace it. I have a budget between 2000-3000 prefer to stay on the lower side but i'm willing to spend more if it is worth it. I'm trying to find something that doesn't run too hot. I'm not too concerned about size weight battery or sound. All i care about it performance for gaming without running hot.

You cannot achieve a balance between thermal and performance, particularly when cramming power hungry components a into a form factor like laptop, which has limited space for heat dissipation.

Even a good 15 inch gaming laptop with Nvidia Max-Q design will reach over 70 Celsius under gaming load. And the battery life will still disappoint you if you want to game on the go.

Get a real desktop and SFF computer (like Zotac ZBox) plus a monitor for gaming instead. It's much cheaper and offers more performance, and most importantly for you, runs cooler.

I'm in the U.S. I play games like the witcher series, metro series, dishonored, wolfenstein, overwatch, and rainbow six: siege.

A 1070 laptop should suffice. 1080 might be too hot
