What kind of M.2 SSD does my port support?

Hi. This is my laptop which I am looking forward to adding a drive to it and I've seen so much about them and also a lot of compatibility issues and what not so down here I have a picture of the port on my laptop as in the spec sheet it doesn't have any info about it, same in the online manual, says only how to install it, not what kind to use. This laptop here is an Asus ZX553VD i7 7700HQ, GTX 1050 and 8gb ram

That is an M key M.2 connector. Theoretically both SATA and NVMe drives should work, but I don't know if ASUS disabled some functionality.

i dont know if you'd want to trust on them not disabling functionality

 

on topic: dig into the documentation they have for this thing, most likely it'll be in there *somewhere*.

Used online US support, and they are not very sure because it is a UK model and apparently they don't have the access to info but they told me that this model had a config with a sata 3 rosewood ssd. But they told me to call UK support which never works. Anyway I am sure that at least the m.2 works with sata m.2 ssds
