How Did I Do On My AMD Build

cMc214

I'm about to build my first gaming PC.  I tried to shop deals and sales to get good pricing with the hope I could get a little better  performance than a similar priced pre-build.  Let me know how I did and thoughts are appreciated.  I plan on using the stock cooler since I am not overclocking... for now.   Some items not pictured as I am still waiting for delivery of power supply and ram.  And yes my first thermal paste application is going to be scary ?

When you use the term budget, are you referring to the fact that you had set a budget? Because in the traditional sense, it usually means low budget. What you have here is a high end gaming PC.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I apologize for my confusion because I am new at this I see people with much more expensive builds that are considered high end. I thought this was a lower cost build..

$700 is low cost, you've got the most expensive CPU from AMD's consumer platform and a 1440p 144Hz gaming graphics card. Definitely a top tier build fit for an enthusiast.

That price for the 1TB SSD and motherboard are higher than what I'd pay for them but overall it's good. I would have went for a GTX 1080 over the 1070Ti but that's just personal preference at that point.

If I am not mistaken the 2700X was on sale two weeks/a week ago for about 250 dollars I thought. Or maybe that was the regular 2700. It looks like you may of paid a bit more than needed for some of the parts.

Definitely a high end build here. 2700X is a great chip.

Someday I'll have a high end system. Just gotta remain hopeful, ya know?

cMc214: You've got yourself a solid build. I don't have any real criticisms, just a couple thoughts:

-32 gigs of ram is probably overkill. On that I digress, however, because we all love the overkill. Bring on the overkill! My actual thought on the ram is this: next time, I would consider getting four 8 gig sticks, rather than two 16 gig sticks. It will allow you to populate all of the spaces to create a more...Robust looking build. Unless, of course,  you plan on adding two more 16 gig sticks...But that would just be overkill... ... ... ... ...Do it!

-First of all, doesn't the wraith cooler come with thermal paste pre-applied? I honestly wouldn't know. Secondly, your first thermal paste application will be simpler and quicker than you think. The amount of discussions, and the importance we attach to those discussions, grossly outweigh the reality. Just estimate a fat grain of rice, or a round little pea, or do a straight thin line down the middle...Time and time again, the tests have proven that every "common sense" approach is pretty much identical. Watch a couple videos and call it good, don't overthink or over-analyze.

You have a 9900K, RTX 2080, 32GB system. Is that low end?

@OP: Why 32GB RAM though? Do you actually need 32GB? I would have probably got 2x8GB and got a slightly better GPU. For everything else, it looks like a solid build if you are not going to do crazy overclocks on that CPU because of the mobos VRMs.
