CPU's In Servers

I am purchasing a new PLEX media server, (this one), and I saw it comes with two different types of processors. The options are either an Intel Xeon X5650, or an Intel Xeon 6545. Which is the better CPU?

Do you men the e5450?

 

 

 

How much transcoding are you doing? Both will probbly be fine for most home users.

The E5645 is just a lower clocked westmere hexcore, same thing as the X5650. The E5645 is really lowly clocked though. Depending on if you can save a little getting the lower end one. LGA1366 Xeons are dirt cheap, quads range from like $2-10 and you can get fairly good hexs for $30 E5649's would be good for a lower power system while X5675's are still a good deal even if you can't overclock them. Registered ECC DDR3 is also next to worthless.
