SAS controller, Raid card.

Hi

I need a controller for a 8087 sas backplane.

The server is a low tier Nas, and I just need a controller that can run 2 x 4 SATA disks through a 8087 sas backplane. The backplane does not support SATA controllers if it is not set to RAID in the BIOS and as far as I know unraid will not detect the disks when set to RAID in the BIOS, so guess a SAS controller is the solution.

Any suggestions on what card to get?

Just saying these have a 2tb limit, so don't use it with large drives.

At this point I wouldn’t use anything older than SAS2008 (or equivalent). The 2TB limit and slower SAS/SATA link speeds aren’t worth the low cost unless you’re strictly working with small capacity mechanical HDD’s.
