2080/TI Info Needed

Howdy all,

So first build is still not finished and the upgrade bug is already getting big! With that comes questions!

1.) This really is a general GPU question but what is the difference between 2080 and 2080 TI? Is it just better binned Silicon Lottery parts? Can I clock a 2080 to be a TI the way AMD can clock a 570 to a 580?

2.) Brands: Are Zotac and PSY good? I never heard of either before I start looking at parts for my machine.

3.) Realistically, with massive airflow in my case, is there a massive difference between cards if I could keep any brand at 50 degrees c constantly? Is it just fan noise that would be the issue?

As far as clocks go maybe you could but the ti has 11GB of VRAM vs 8GB and 

The Ti has a 4352 vs 2944 cuda cores and a 352 Bit memory bus vs 256 bit.

I also believe the 2080-ti has 544 Tensor Cores and 68 RT Cores compared to the 2080's 368 Tensor Cores and 46 RT Cores.

1) in some way, the ti has more cuda cores unlocked, clocks higher, is better binned. you get what you pay for

2) PNY is a main manifacturer of quadros, so it's reputable. Zotac has some problems with the customer service, but some of the cards are good.

3) only the binning and warrenty with the specific brand/model, that's about it

 

where are you located, what is your budget and what are your other components?

and what's your CPU and monitor resolution/refresh rate? If it's lower than 1440p 144hz or 4k you don't need either of those cards

where are you located, what is your budget and what are your other components?

I'm not in the market yet but I'm based in Ireland. I'm  only researching for the moment. Other components will be 32gb 3200 DDR4, 8086K (hopefully with some clocking), Z390 Aorus Mobo and D-15S. All lovingly shoved in a Meshify C with a couple of 140mm Noctua Chromax intakes and 120mm Fractual exhaust.

Since I've no monitor for now and will be using a TV screen for now, I have a 1050 TI to keep me going.

When I intend to buy, a 1080TI will be harder to find so 2080/TI will be what I'm after with a monitor to take advantage of it.

The 2080 pricing is back down to the 1080ti's level at retail

 

but a used 1080ti is possibly near 400 GBP

I don't buy second hand parts from different countries by rule of thumb. In fact I avoid second hand parts as much possible.
