pcpartpicker is good for building a machine and knowing the best prices

 

Myself I usually find that one main component is an impulse buy then I follow it up with a whole system.

 

In the past I have gone either local with micro center for most or all of the build with newegg doing the rest or most.  Those are my two go to's because I don't like ordering from multiple places.  (rebates are a scam, ignore them at all times)
