Conclusion:

I have bought a new PSU to be on the 'save side' and than i also dont have to keep the PSU in mind when i am changing Parts of my computer.

The neu PSU is a Modular 750Watt be quiet 80+ Gold.

Hi there,

so i have my PC (self build)

and i want to upgrade my graphics Card. But i don't Know if my Power supply is strong enough

My current Config:

I5-4690 @3.5Ghz

Fatal1ty H97 Performance Motherboard

16GB DDR3 HyperX RAM

1TB 72RPM HHD

1 M.2 Samsung 970 EVO in m.2 to PCI adapter (with RGB (YAY) )

1 Samsung 860 EVO

Additional Wireless networking Card (PCIe)

Geforce GTX 750 Ti

450W Bequiet Power Supply

My Target for a new Graphics Card would be a RTX 2070

(I know that my Processor is probably a Bottleneck for that Card but i plan on upgrading that to in the future but now in Games linke Shadow of the Tomb Raider The CPU is Often only on about 20-30% usage)

My problem is that i dont know if my PSU can handle the load.

The PSU-calc tells me that i need around 435 Watts but i have 450W Bequiet Power Supply so i have learnd that i alwas need a better PSU than the PSU-CALC tells me

So my question is if my PSU is enough for my Planned Load of the RTX 2070 Upgrade?

Small disclaimer: This is my first post on this forum an i am not a native English speaker :D

What's the PSU model?

PSU "calculators" are a waste of time. They overestimate by a ton, and you shouldn't trust anyone that suggests using them. Even more so, if they tell you that they underestimate.

The 2070 draws 175W, so expect the system to draw about 250W under load. Assuming the PSU isn't crap, it'll run just fine.

you generally want a your psu to be operating at around 70% load

I'd like a sauce on that.

I once tested my System and i saw peaks at around 200 Watt already (with my current config and Not the most reliable power Meter)

so you still think that my PSU will be enough with the added 175Watts?

Need a moment for the model

I can't tell, because you haven't answered which model it is.

Also, do keep in mind that you have to account for the PSU's efficiency when measuring wall power.

That's because the 750TI isn't worth a damn in that game. When running the Trail of that game, in the first little townsquare my 4670K pegged to 100% and stayed there. 1440p with a gtx 1080.

I know its a terrible Card in Modern Games .. thats why i want to upgrade...

And i only play at 1080p and the lowest settings of the Low settings and get around 20-25 FPS ?
