In general anything from Cisco/Scientific Atlantis, Arris/Motorola will work just fine. Make sure it is Docsis 3.0, I would recommend going for a 16 channel downstream modem minimum to give you room in the future to upgrade your plan higher than 25Mbps. Once you find a modem you like, you can check this article to see if its supported by Xfinity/Comcast.

Anyone have a recommendation on a modem? I’m just getting their basic 25Mbps plan.

Well the SB6121 would work but there is lots of rumors flying that the SB6121(4x4) and the SB6141(8x4) modems will be EOL at some point in the near future actually Comcast will EOL all 4x4 and 8x4 modems. I think the SB6121 supports speeds up to 100 Mbps. Id personally go with the CM600 (24x8) that will support speeds most people would want. Just stay away from any Docsis 3.0 32 channel modems as the Intel Puma 6 chip in them is defective. If you think you may want Gigabit speeds in the future, then you need Docsis 3.1.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

The CM600 looks like a good buy to me too. But do you think the CM500 would be fine? I honestly don’t think I’ll get service of more than 60-100mbps at most in the next 5 years. Thank you for the reccomendation and info, very informative!

CM500 should be fine. It will push over 200 Mbps. Keep in mind that its just a modem. So you may need to buy a router if you dont have one already.

Great that helps save a few $. I got a nighthawk router, so I’ll be set now. thanks again!
