Reprogram a Microcontroller :P

Hey there. One of the most recent videos on the Linus Tech Tips channel is about scam drives. I own one (I figured it was a scam but decided I'd buy it anyway and just get my money back.) and wondered if I can reprogram a microcontroller myself. I don't want to make any scams or anything of course, but I'd like to see how big I can make a drive's capacity. :P

Is this possible using just a normal computer? (I have Windows and Linux :D)
