Ok. Hey guys. I'm kinda new at all this computer stuff. I used to be into it when I was a kid but it's completely different now.

I guess I'm trying to do something that's not possible?

Here's the build...

Ryzen 2700x

Asus Crosshair VII Hero wifi

2x Samsung 970 Evo 500gb in raid 0

2x Asus Strix 1080 (shooting for sli)

16gb G.Skill rgb ram

Allllllllllll kinds of rgb

So I'm seeing there's an issue with running raid 0 and sli together. Not enough pcie lanes. One nvme pulls from the 16x slot. I get all that.

I'm really looking to see if there is a chipset that supports raid 0 and sli. I know the risks of raid 0. No need to beat a dead horse.

raid0 on M.2 SSD's is for all but the biggest data troughput completely and utterly useless.

to draw a point of how much within margin of error you're getting..

at the office i often have to clean install systems based on either spinning rust, or a standard sata SSD.

the HDD boxes take maybe an hour or so to get trough all the driver installs and windows updates, the sata SSD boxes take about 30 minutes or so..

then every so often.. i have to reinstall M.2 SSD boxes.. and they take about 10 minutes... most of which is time i need to click buttons. there is no performance left to gain if even the most storage intensive tasks are bottlenecked by the speed you can press buttons at.

X99 or X299 would work, but why would you need raid 0? It looks like a gaming rig, which wouldn't benefit in any meaningful way from those drive speeds.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Can SLI run on X8 and X4?

With SLI and RAID you'd be running X8 and X4 on the GPUs and X4 and X4 on the drives.

I think SLI requires X8 minimum, while crossfire supports X4.

That board might allow one of the drives to run off of PCH for SLI + raid0 but honestly not worth the hassle to raid0 NVMe drives as previously stated; the performance gains are only noticeable by metahumans.

It'll be a gaming rig and rendering rig. And honestly I seen raid 0 on YouTube and I thought what the heck. I'll try it. Took forever to get it to work.

I have 5tb in this system, the nvmes, 860 Evo ssd and a 3tb Toshiba p300. I got alot of this stuff on black Friday deals. A 970 Evo 500gb for 100 bucks? I'll take two. That's pretty much how it all started. I've thought about selling the drives and getting a tb version. I might just end up doing that. Anyone interested in buying?

Sli often runs worse than running one of the same card alone. It is not supported much anymore. I would sell both cards and run a single 2080ti if you need ALL the FPSs.

Black Knight-

Ryzen 5 5600, GIGABYTE B550M DS3H, 16Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz, Asrock RX 6800 XT Phantom Gaming,

Seasonic Focus GM 750, Samsung EVO 860 EVO SSD M.2, Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe, Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon

Daughter's Rig;

MSI B450 A Pro, Ryzen 5 3600x, 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz, Silicon Power A55 512GB SSD, Gigabyte RX 5700 Gaming OC, Corsair CX430

I got both cards under 400 each. Can't touch a 2080ti for that

If you want to sell them on this site, there's a classifieds subforum where you can make a post. Keep in mind current amazon pricing is $118 so for them to sell privately, even if just opened package, may be tough at $100US ea.

Try the eBay.  Some folks shop there exclusively so you'll see large vendors charge different prices there then what's on their website.  I know Newegg does it.
