HDMI or displayport

I've been trying to find out which is better,HDMI or displayport but some people say displayport is better and others say that there's no difference, so which one is actually better and what are the differences?

I've only used HDMI so far and have not used displayport if displayport is better should I get a displayport cable?

Displayport has more bandwidth and is more capable than HDMI at higher refresh rates. This may mean that if you have a Displayport capable monitor you can display your GPU's output at a higher refresh rate as HDMI is limited to 60Hz particularly at 4k.

Displayport is mich better than HDMI. It doesnt matter on a 60hz monitor, but any higher an Displayport is the way to go because of its more inclusive featureset

Also you need display port to take advantage of adaptive vsync technologies such as FreeSync for AMD GPUs and G-Sync for NVidia GPUs (if your monitor supports it, that is)

Just started using hdmi to game on. Can’t say there’s much difference. As the hardware is adequate, the hz for the monitor is identical.

I play FPS games so 4K is out of the question. But 1440 at 144hz is ok. Can’t say for sure if anything is really different as I’m still feeling out the system as a whole.
