Graphics Card Search

I'm trying to decide whether or not to upgrade my current graphics card or grab another one for SLI.

I need help finding a GTX 980 for SLI or some suggestions on a new graphics card,

My current PC is as follows:

CPU: Intel i7 6700k 

Cooler: H100i V2

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Formula

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32gb kit 2666mhz

Graphics Card: GTX 980

Storage: 500gb Samsung 850 Evo + 4tb WD Black for games

PSU: Corsair RMi 750

Please help, any suggestions and ideas are appreciated!

To SLI or not to SLI. That, is the question. It is going to depend on the game but Most don't work with it or don't work well. I've dealt with SLI a bit before. It's a pain in the ass half the time, even sometimes where it's supposed to "Just work".

 

Better off selling the 980 and putting that money towards a 1080 or an RTX card.

Scaling isn't great, some games you might get a 50% performance boost or a bit more, but 90% of other games will simply not use the second GPU.

Some older games won't run until you disable SLI.

Even if you get higher fps with the second card, some games will have microstuttering making for a horrible experience until you turn the second card off.

 

On top of that there is double the power consumption, double the heat, more noise, more cluttered PC case.

 

There's a reason why nvidia is killing SLI, there's just not enough games implementing it anymore.

 

A single GPU will not have any microstuttering or compatibility issues, and will actually give you a performance boost in all games, not just ones that support SLI.
