for 650$ 8gb of ram isn't very good i'd almost opt for faster used parts than slower new parts

Seems good. But why do you have a fan splitter cable?

Also, I think you could squeeze an RX 580 and/or 16GB of RAM in there.

If this is too much, swap the 580 for the 570 or drop back to 8GB of RAM.

16 gigs definitely isn't necessary. Also, don't buy anything used that you don't trust, because you never know what you're getting yourself into with a ton of random vendors out there. The build seems fine and with excellent value to me. You're getting everything you could ask for reasonably with that price point.

The H500 is a much nicer case aesthetically and in terms of features. It also leaves room to upgrade to ATX next time he upgrades.
