Why does this PC not boot from USB?

skillz22
Go to solution Solved by skillz22,

ALLLLLL Right then, I clicked on the UEFI Boot option: INT13(,0x81), and apparently, somehow that was the USB drive. (I don't know how since it was called something else in the boot settings of the other computer I tested it on) I haven't actually installed windows yet, but it comes into the installation screen just fine.

Thanks everyone who tried to help!

I have a Dell T3600. I attempted to install Windows 10 on it via a USB (Used Win 10 download utility to get ISO, then used Rufus to flash it to a USB drive). I tested it on a different computer, and it works as it should, but when I plug it into the Dell and manually hit F12 and boot from the USB, It gives me a message saying it cannot boot from the USB. Why is this happening?

Thanks

Have you configured the PC to boot from USB?

Are you plugging the drive into a USB2 or USB3 port?

What do you mean? For me, the USB comes under Legacy Boot.

I'm manually going into boot options and telling the computer to boot from the USB. The both the port and the drive is USB 2.0.

The failed boot device is when I select USB storage device and hit enter.

But it doesn't matter since I'm manually telling it to boot from the USB right?

that is something in the bios. you have made a USB with UEFI boot loader that is why it did not work in legacy. UEFI and Legacy are total different boot loaders.
