Upgrade for a 4770?

i7-4770 - 16GB Ram - z87 maximums impact- RX480 8GB - 1440P monitor - FPS goal <60

 

So I get mostly decent FPS in 80% of stuff i try to play. things like BO4 Blackout,ghost recon wildlands,PUBG on anything above medium runs at like 30-40 FPS with stutters ect... 

 

GPU usage is at 100% CPU isn't pegged but it is going on 5 years old now  so should i get a new GPU (1070/2060) or a new CPU. Could I get away with going Lower end Current gen on the CPU like a R2600 or a i3 8100?

new gpu. simple as that. the 4770 is still really good.

Id have to agree, get a new gpu. You can get 1070s and 1080s pretty cheap on eBay ($200 & $350 respectively). A part being old doesnt mean it should be replaced, only when its failing or bottlenecking your system to a point that leaves more to be desired should it be (unless you really want new parts for whatever reason, Id stick with the current stuff though)

The only CPU upgrade I would recommend is a 4770k or 4790k, since you've got a good overclocking motherboard, so why not go all out and pump up those frequencies? Also yeah, if your GPU is at 100% that generally means a better one will give you better frames. A friend of mine has an RX480 and an i7 5820k, same issue. Getting a good graphics card off eBay is ideal for you.
