I'm helping someone with a new computer that is primarily for gaming.

That's the build. $800 is the max w/o OS so this is even pushing it. Thanks in advance.

Is there a reason he needs the optical drive?
Also, I think Fractal Design has a case that looks virtually identical for less money.

Get a 270X and spend a bit more on a better power supply IMO, otherwise it looks good.

Yes on the 270x but no on the PSU. The CX builder series I have found to be very reliable from corsair even though the 80+ rating says otherwise.

Does this look better. Any upgrades since there's a bit of wiggle room.

There is no price on the SSD. Is that because he already has it?

Yeah, he wants it. Which case does Fractal have.

What do you mean, the price is on the right side.

The fractal core 1000 is more expensive on newegg. It might be cheaper elsewhere so the OP should probably double check his vendor.

Yeah, I also noticed it's an mATX case. So he'd need to change (albeit to a cheaper) mATX motherboard as well.

It's $24.99 from other vendors.

With the money saved between the two you could probably buy a few games on Steam.

Tis would be my suggestion http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2yvTq

Almost the same, except for the GPU/PSU/SSD.

The XFX 550w is a really good PSU as well, but I like modular and Corsairs PSU aren't bad either.

I had a build loose prices overnight, perhaps that is what happened to yours. This is your build today.

Figured it out. For some reason when I looked at the build in pcpartpicker it picked up on a merchant restriction of another build. Sorry for the confusion.

Have you considered an Intel build?

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($194.99 @ NCIX US)
