Overdrive vs Response time

This might be a silly question but i have a Acer KG251QF 144 HZ monitor and in the box and in specs it says this has a response time of 1ms. and im using it via a DP cable.

so my problem is,

in monitor menu under the games section the option "overdrive" is set to normal and its grayed out.(attached pic)

So is that means that im not getting a response time of 1 ms ?

does overdrive have anything to do with response time ?

Most likely not. Response time generally isn’t something that changes. Nor is it something that would be next to aimpoint

Yes, overdrive can impact your response time but it also can introduce weird issues.

On my current AOC 165Hz monitor changing Overdrive from Normal to High made a significant and immediately visible impact on the response times.

On my previous EIZO monitor, the Overdrive at anything but normal caused some serious image distortions and artifacting.

i tried connecting a DVI cable and changed the overdrive to extreme and it introduced big amount amount of ghosting.the problem is i only get 120 HZ on DVI D(i have an RX 480) in both HDMI and DP i get 144 HZ but i get the option to change the overdrive only in DVI
