Switch from secure boot to dual boot windows/linux?

Polraudio

Ok so im new to the whole UEFI and secure boot thing(just recently upgraded from an old BIOS motherboard). My setup is as follows...

>Windows 10 installed with bitlocker on the boot drive.

>All Bios/UEFI settings default on my motherboard "Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA" so secure boot and all that crap is most likely on.

I tried booting a flashdrive with a linux installer and no matter what i cannot boot from it so im assuming i have to disable stuff.

The question i have is if i disable all this secure boot/UEFI crap in order to install linux on another drive will that mess up my current installation of windows 10 and prevent me from booting into it?

Didn't work sadly and I had to reinstall windows. Good thing i had a flash drive already made up with windows 10 from last time. After i disabled secure boot it wouldn't detect the drive as bootable at all.

At least now I dont have to worry about the dumb secure boot and can install any OS i want on any drive.
