PlatStation 2 SCPH-70012 disc doesn't spin but lazer works

So, i have a Slimline PS2 system, model SCPH-70012. I has never given me any problems until one day, the disc just didn't wanna spin. At all :(

Well, I bought a new motor on eBay....nothing.

Took the whole thing apart. Checked the fuses, all good. All sensors were checked with a multimeter and in simulated use. The laser moves and lights up and all that jazz. Was gonna recalibrate the potentiometers on the laser but I can't for the death of me find what the values are supposed to be.

This thing has never been modded, everything inside looks and tested fine. I even took my multimeter to the motor socket on the motherboard, and tested the ribbon cable for the laser.

I opened the browser and put a disc in and it only said "reading disc" for about one second, so it's clearly not detecting the disc.

I would really like to get this fixed so I can win my 20th Winston Cup, become a worldwide touring rock legend, and get the crown, save the town and Mr. Krabs

i also have a slimline ps2 with the same issue....but i personally never bothered trying to fix it.

every forum i read - people fixed it by replacing the motor - its possible your new motor could also have been defective

I'm also kinda at the end of my rope since with all of the research I've done it seems that nobody on this Death forsaken earth know what the exact resistor values are supposed to be.

Resistance? Its a coil, not a Resistor.

You need a Coil Measurement Thingy.

And why not get a known good PS2 Slim to measure the good parts?

Update - Traded the new motor for a new laser. Now when I put the disc in it, the laser moves to the center....and tries to keep going and makes a grinding noise
