Laptop detects TV as lower resolution

Ok, so I have a Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB with a Core i3 7100U. I have been trying to connect it to my FullHD LG TV via HDMI, but it just won't recognize the TV as 1920x1080. As soon as I connect it to the TV, I get a notification saying that the optimal resolution for that display is 1360x768. And if I try to change it to 1920x1080, it looks all wrong. The edges get cut off, it all looks like a blurry mess, etc. I was thinking it could be due to my laptop's version of HDMI? Supposedly, Intel HD Graphics 620 should run up to 4K 30 Hz or so, so I don't know. (Also, I just looked it up and even HDMI 1.0 could run 1920x1080. I mean, come to think of it, it seems obvious, since it is made for HD) Or, maybe, could it be an issue with my HDMI cable? I tried another cable, but both cables I have are identical.

I was planning to get a monitor to use with this laptop, but like, it wouldn't really be worth the trouble getting a monitor if it will look all wrong.

I've got no idea if this is the actual problem but is your TV set to Dot to Dot (1:1)?

Set your GPU to output 1080p and then go into the tv settings and find the auto-scale or auto adjust option or whatever it is called and that should make the image fit properly.

You might need to enable PC/game mode too.

If it's a small / cheap TV, then it's most likely only 1360x768. It was very common for TVs to be made with this resolution, but with the ability to accept 1080p signals and downscale them to 720p, so that they could claim to be "1080p-compatible" or "1080p-ready" or whatever.

Thanks, guys! The issue is now solved. I did what Enderman said and it worked perfectly.
