Light gaming laptop for college?

I'm gonna be going to college next year, and my dad wants to get me a laptop as m highschool graduation gift. Although I insisted on some parts for my pc instead, he's set on getting me a laptop. I told him 100% no macbooks or anything like that, but I want a WINDOWS laptop that can game decently on it. And when I mean decently, I mean games like CSS, CSGO, Minecraft, and other less demanding games, not talking about running battlefield 4 on it. I would prefer screen sized around 14-16" not much bigger than that. Running windows 7 or 8. Not sure of his budget, but definitely under $900

Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 or HP Envy 15z-j100
