Good luck with that, you better off with looking for phones without locked boot-loader then installing a custom ROM after the official support ends....

I can unlock the booloader on my 3. Don't worry about it . Funny story about that. The bootloader was unlocked when I bought it refurbished.

Supposedly a lot better. Note8 was a massive improvement over S8 due to software and Oreo will bring that and more to the S8.

Next time I buy a new Phone I'm expecting at least 4 years of OS Updates or else I'm not buying it. And if they promise more but don't deliver then I'll blacklist them. It's that simple.

Apple is able to deliver. If it comes to it and no other company offers that level of service then I'll have no Choice but pick Apple.
