Need help, Asus bios Q fan control

Linus Tech Tits

Q fan control set my minimum fan speed to 90% and it is running at 1600rpm in idle and in game.

The noise is unbearable, sound like microwave oven set at 800w :(

I try reset the bios and unplug the fan pin but it still run at 90% speed.

Is there software that can override the bios setting? I also try speedfan but it doesn;t work

What are your specs and which fans are too loud? What header is it plugged into?

Moved to Air Cooling.

it is an i7 7700t. the cpu fan is load.

I plugged it into 4pin that indicated as cpu_fan

From BIOS, set CPU fan header to be DC controlled instead of PWM. That cooler has 3pin/DC fan instead of normal PWM. That should help.

So i enter the bios, i can only choose dc or pwm mode for chassis fan but not cpu cooler. It does not show the option there..

The cpu_fan header is using pwm which will run any 12v 3pin fans at 100%. Use the cha_fan header instead.

Oh I see. So if i plug cpu fan into cha_fan and chassis fan into cpu_fan, the chassis fan will run at 100%?

So the only solution is to change a cpu cooler with 4 pins?

Any 3pin fan plugged into that cpu_fan header would run at 100% whereas 4pin pwm fans would be fine.

Another solution is to get a fan splitter or to power fans from another source like the psu with a fan controller or adapters.

I did what you said and now the Cha fan(actually is the cpu cooler) running at 1600rpm.Did i do something wrong?

edit:should i change the cha_fan (cpu cooler)to dc mode now?

Well i just turn off the cpu cooler and found out the noise source is the rear chassis fan...even running at 800rpm it is still louder than cpu cooler running at full speed lol. The cpu cooler didnt add any noticeable fan noise tbh...

You need to change it to DC mode to control 3pin fans.

In that case, have you tried lowering the speed of the rear fan?

somehow the bios fixed it at minumum 800rpm and i can barely feel the exhaust air flow ady.

The cpu cooler now work perfectly thanks to your advice.
