XPS 12 9Q33 broken hinge?

I'm looking to get the used xps 12 9q33 (the old flip version but haswell CPU)

 

but my bro who worked in a laptop repair shop for an internship told me that I shouldn't get the XPS 12 as the hinges always break. 

 

Is it true? I mean my bro kinda exxagerates things hence im even asking here :P

they are a weak point yes

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Hmm ok.. another solution would be x230 & 9 cell battery, yay or nay? Will it last 6+ hrs on win 10?

the 6 cell version gets 5.5 hours, so the 9 cell should without any problems get more than 6 hours. It is a good laptop, but it is an old model now, but if you can get a very good deal then go for it.

Its abt 300? sgd against the dell xps 12 for 400

Ahh well i already bit the bullet and got the xps.. thanks for your help though, so far its pretty good (typing the post with it)

 

Thankfully, the battery life is extremely well kept in condition.

Only some distortion on loud volume on the speakers as i test around.. probably driver issues.
