Pimp out an Xbox 360?

Alright, this is the best place I could think of to put this. My cousin has an Xbox 360 S he's had since launch. He's planning on getting an Xbox One X or S when he moves into his new house, and I'm going to give him my old PC once I upgrade to Ryzen. All this to say, he may give me the 360. It'd make my Dad happy, since we can then get Halo 2 and fight each other, which he's always wanted to do (but he got a PS2 because he didn't tell me he wanted to do 4 player... ). So, I've been looking at ways to make it perform better. It runs really slow right now, but it's never been blown out, ever, so it's practically a brick of dust. I'm going to get the iFixit toolkit so I can open it (they're worse than an iMac, almost). I'm going to dust it off, and since it's open, I'll replace the thermal paste as well. Is there anything else I should do? I was thinking about replacing the fan, as the current one is around 5 years old. Should I buy a new Xbox fan or try and fit a 120 or 140mm Static pressure fan in there? What else should I do?

Defo. Especially since I'll only have a few games, I don't need a ton of storage.

Yep a 500GB SSD will do you fine then.

having taken an xbox 360 apart, your not gona fit a 120mm fan in one

500gb????? games are tiny on 360, he could easily get away with a 120/240gb

Rats. I'll at least replace the stock fan with a new OEM one, since I don't want to open it up again for quite a bit.

If you want to go all out , you could potentially get it out of the casing and put it ina custom/aftermarket case with a bit of effort .

I was thinking about that. And then get a 5.25" bay fan controller and rig up a much better cooling system. Though that may be too much for an old system like this, it'd be much more worthwhile on an Xbox One or PS4.

true , but if you make a mistake , xbox 360's are available on the cheap . 8th gen consoles are not.

Yeah. And it's a good compromise, since it's only a little more than a PS2, but the graphics are much better. Modding a PS2 wouldn't be very worthwhile, since everything is pretty much a blurry blob.
