Raspberry Pi as a router?

is it possible to use rassberry pi as a makeshift router if i connect it to a line than have my laptop connect to the pi??

well here's the thing... the network i'm connecting to isn't mine. It's at work and their wifi here is trash. The IT guys told me where I can connect to an open line. Works great when I do that, but I need to be mobile around the office so I was thinking it's a cheap way for me to get wifi going.

you don't want a router for wifi, you want a wireless access point.
