GTX 980ti trade?

Hello! I picked up a R9 390x DEVIL by Powercolor for 280$ CAD a few months back and I have the opportunity to trade it up for a gtx 980ti by Zotac with the blower style cooler. The trade would be I give him the r9 390x plus 120$ (again CAD). Was just wondering, would this trade be worth it in your opinion? Thanks, and I'd love to hear your thoughts !

Even trade is the lowest thing I'd consider, and TBH 75 cash on top of the 980ti is probably more appropriate for him to be offering.  The AMD card is worth more than the 980ti in current market conditions.

yes, but if you're more interested in gaming performance the 980 ti will be better. Also, prices will drop eventually... i think

Yes but clearly the person that proposed the trade is trying to take advantage of him.  They want 120$ from him for a card they can turn around and then sell for 300$ and basically get 420$ for their 980ti.  But more than likely they just want it to mine daggerhash and don't want to pay to play.

oops, I was off about 100.  the 390x is probably worth like 400 cad so 520 out of the 980ti if his end game is to sell a gpu.

 When the mining bubble inevitably bursts, the 980ti would still be useful as a nice gpu.

interesting.  No idea why.  It's a site that tracks the trending value of items on ebay.  Just typed it into chrome on my phone and got no error.

Seems pretty good to me, obviously negotiate, maybe offer him $50, but overall you win out, because you get a much better card. They are both used cards at this stage so prices are entirely decided by supply and demand, and obviously there is just low supply of the r9 390, which is pushing prices up.
