Air cooling my CPU, need TIM recommendation

About to delid my cousin's Haswell i7 CPU, and use CLU between the IHS but his cooler is a 212 so I can't use liquid metal or it will damage the aluminium.

 

What are good thermal paste for the top of the IHS for 2017?

Honestly most are good, I like Noctua Nt- H1 personally as its pretty good quality. Probably not top tier performing but close up there.

You have done the hard work by replacing the stock TIM under the IHS. Now that heat transfer is more efficient you can use something like MX-4 on top.
