Diffusing material on Amazon?

Acorn Eyes

I've got some spare money on Amazon and I'm thinking of lining my ceiling with an addressable RGB strip.

Now personally I find the focused nature of LEDs distracting, so I want to diffuse the light.

I need the material to be prime ($5 and my shipping on the strip is free) and around $15.

Maybe some sort of plastic film that you cut to fit rgb leds or just blanket entire ceiling.

What do you mean blanket the entire ceiling?

I don't want to look like I'm about to murder someone.

Jokes aside, I want something more sturdy for a professional look.

It depends on how you have it installed but you can get purpose made channel but those would cost a fair but more, than say strips of diffused film or acrylic.

What I mean is you want to diffuse the light from the rgb, so a plastic film could be used like window tint on cars. But you can get various grades of plastic, various thicknesses, from Home Depot lets say, be like a drop cloth type plastic, or a construction barrier type film..... or go window tint way. Or go plastic clear film and some sort of paint over plastic.

Use hard plastic then = More money = more work

Unless I put a thin coating it'll be too think?

Too permanent Acorn

Not as uniform neither.

You could try sanding down the case of the rgb where it shines out.

Have you tried varying the voltages of the rgb to lighten up the light rather then having it so bright.

Assuming you mean thick and you'll be fine.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I didn't buy the strip yet, and the goal is to diffuse the light, not soften it.

I'm thinking of buying acrylic tubing actually, and sanding it down.

There you go, makes sense.

I thought you meant soften it LOL

I'd do a few samples of different diameter tubing.

Probaby get it for cheap on Fleabay aka ebay, from China.

You want flexible or hard tubing?

Or there is clear rod.

Over here in Mexico we can get a sort of thin polycarbonate sheet in a school supply store. I use that as a diffuser (I can show you pics later if you want). It's fairly cheap (about 5 bucks per square meter), light and works rather well.

Cheers!

Can I see some pictures of it with a strip behind it?

Sure, as soon as I get home (about 1 or 2 hours) :)

Alright so I'm doing some math here, I can get the $30 strip with 60 leds/m instead of the $20 strip with 30 leds/m. (both 16.4ft)

The perimeter of my ceiling is ~15 meters, which is about 3 strips.

That's out of my budget for now, but I can line the ceiling where my monitors are with one of the strips.

Unless anyone knows quality strips that can be individually addressed and either have no remote or can be used without one with a greater length.

Actually, what I'm thinking now is that I can just sand down the waterproof acrylic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LSF4Q0A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ARYZM74F47MOK&th=1

Just want confirmation that I won't permanently fuck something up sanding the acrylic (scratches being emphasized or potentially sanding too much.)
