Connecting ASUS GTX 1080

I am about 95% done with my first ever PC build. I have an ASUS GTX 1080 STRIX plugged into my motherboard. It has an eight and a six pin female connector. Do I need to use both of these? My PSU came with 4 6+2 pins for the PCIE slots. Do I use one on the 8 pin and then use the second one and only use the 6 pins and not plug in the other two? In the box, they gave me a male 8 pin to two female 6 pin adapters. what do I do with this? My manual doesn't really say.

by the looks of it they dont have dual 6+2 connectors so youll have to use two 6+2(8pin and 6 pin) to power your gpu

So for the left side (6 pin) I just only use the 6 and don't plug in the two connected to it? It still fits perfectly.

The top image is the PSU cord for the PCIE, the bottom is the adapter they gave me in the GPU box. What is the adapter's purpose?

you should have 4 of the pcie connecters

therefore you have to use 6pin from one of them and the other will be 8pin (the +2 pin should clip onto the 6 pin)
