Help Organizing CSGO competition

joshua_lotion

im organizing a csgo competition for my school's charity event and have 11 pcs with 11 copies of csgo(one for spectating and admin). I want to know how to set up a custom competitive match and what kind of match i should use to have a match be a max of 30mins(only 8 hours in total for the whole competition). Also , there will be sixteen teams and the competition will be single elimination style. Also a lot of people are recommending best of 30/15 but i have no idea what that means. Pls help guys. It's in a few weeks.

Also, where we're holding it has no internet connection so we can only play on lan. im so screwed if i dont get this done so i'd really appreciate any and all help

Given your limited time span (30 mins per game) a better game could of been something like Overwatch as normal competitive csgo matches are a best of 30 rounds format therefore are likely to go on for longer than 30 mins. So that means first to 16 rounds wins or draw at 15 rounds all. You could half the required rounds needed to try and make sure the games fall inside of 30 mins.

This steam post might help you out with the actual logistics of it but its worth you putting in some more research http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=452154031

Edit: Alternatively if you know the computers will have internet access you can just create a lobby and invite everyone set the mode to Competitive, when people enter the game make sure they choose the correct team and the 11th PC selects 'Spectator'. Of course you won't have the almost perfect latency of LAN but you might not care

First one of your computer need to run the server as detailed below :

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230908126

Then you need to configure that server with your own mod, but 30mn per match is very hard to achieve ... Unless you do 15-20 round max. You can use that kind of mod : https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=225474

Or more easily : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?l=french&id=477696626

30 min a game? Thats kinda odd hmm? So you're making a CS:GO competition but not letting players play a full game? If you host a CS:GO comp, just make them play the full games. Otherwise go for a different game as @Rupe suggested. About the set-up, i don't see what really hard about it. Just google on how to create a LAN server and done. Tons and tons of information to find.

sorry im desperate and no one seems to use that thread

Just give them a few minutes. Problem is the mods will lock your thread if you double post. I quoted the other guy and pasted your post without formatting. If it's formatted, sometimes people with the dark theme can't read it.

doing 15-20 rounds would be to solution here indeed, but seems kinda odd and stupid if you ask me. Especially for CS:GO

I don't agree the OP idea, just giving "solution"... Maybe he can make short match in "overtime" like for calification and then full match for semi and final ?

For the first time configuration you need indeed a network connection, to setup the server, download the require files, and setup csgo on every computer. But you can configure them all on a different location.

You need to launch steam in offline mod, then since you're on a local network you all can join the local server with his local IP
