Flare X ram clearance with Noctua NH-D14

Hi guys,

 

Wanting to upgrade my i5 2400 to an R5 1600X.

I have a Noctua D14, and I was recommended the G.Skill Flare X, but he warned that it might not fit under my cooler.

Noctua has full specs on their site, G.Skill is known to list module height. From there its basic math:

Cooler can fit 44mm under fins. RAM is 40mm. You can fit all modules under the fins.

I use the Flare X RAM with a NH D15 and it works just fine.  I just had to put the memory in first then the heatsink.

... Isn't that normal way of building? First CPU, then RAM?

Yeah normally.  But I know some people can get away with putting the cooler in first (like if they have a Hyper 212 Evo or smaller that doesn't cover up or hang over the memory slots).
