Hey so I'm upgrading from a 8350 Processor and DDR3 memory, got a new mobo and memory ordered and I generally know left from right as far as building and such.

But this really threw me off and I need to know of all DDR4 memory is compatible with a DDR4 mobo as long as it can support the speeds? Here's what I ordered and I want to make sure they will work together because the "Intel Z170 Platform" is really throwing me off. I plan on getting the 1700X or possibly the 1800X as well.

Hope I didn't screw up, thanks for helping this nub.

Heres the items..

Mobo: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X370-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#productFeature-section

Memory: https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c16d-32gvk

All ddr4 is compatible with mobos. If the speed is too high, it will just down clock the ram.

Okay I thought so, I mean I figured I knew that much and just wanted to make sure nothing's changed over the years. I know about the speeds, I made sure to get what would work together and help me achieve the 3200 speed with that mobo. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

All DDR4 runs at the same speed out of the box. The speed from the manufacturer is the speed they certify the ram can be overclocked to. That's something you'll have to do in bios settings.

Build: Intel S2600gz, 2x E5-2670, EVGA SC 1070, Zotac 1060 6GB mini, 48GB Micron 1333mhz ECC DDR3, 2x Intel DPS-750XB 750 watt PSU
