Yeah, I wonder how the devs will implement this into games: unlocking fps vs locking it. I wonder if they just put a knob in the settings.

Nvidia can't just drop G-sync, there are too many people with G-sync monitors to abandon them. They could however add Freesync to their graphics cards in addition to G-sync.
