New to Cryptocoins /GPU /CPU /Trade - Help me decide!

Hello guys,

I'm new to cryptocurrencies, and I'm thinking of starting to mine, I need some directions for the first move into this new exciting world.

I'd love to hear your opinion about cryptocoins that could be profitably mined on a CPU, or maybe a lower tier GPU, are there even any? Google doesn't help much, as I'd like to hear from you guys, real people with real opinions and experience, rather than from articles on the web.

I've read something about gridcoin, it seems to have CPU projects as well, but can't find any reliable information about how much it can be profitable in 2017.

Does my question even make sense? Is it possible to make profit on mining without investing into ASICs or PCs with multiple high end graphics cards in them? Would I just be better off trading coins?

So these are my first few doubts/questions, thank you guys for your advice in advance!

It's more profitable to go out and mine gold than it is to mine BTC.

I already know BTC could not be profitable to mine for normal people. But what about other altcoins?

Thanks for the info, which mining pool are you in? Would Zcash be profitable with a cpu only?

CPU, no. I mine to Zcash as they pay directly in bitcoins. Also MUE is more profitable currently so I am switching to that temporarily. That's about $15 a day with the same hardware

Just out of curiosity. What is your kw/h energy price?

I think .10 or .08

wow, that is pretty awesome! I pay 0,23 € per kw/h.

It is a fucking ripoff in Germany just because many people want "green" energy. Yeah sure but what about the cost.

I also live on a farm so it is a tax write off

I think energy cost is the greatest variable too consider.

Sorry for the inactivity guys, and thanks for the answers.

So basically there are no coins out there which could be profitably mined on a CPU :(

As I don't have high end GPU-s, the best way for me to mine regarding electricity costs would be to build a mining "botnet" at my company (I'm a sys admin) :D But that wouldn't be too nice so I'm not gonna do that.

Do you guys think it's a good idea to buy some bitcoin? Recently the price for 1 BTC rocketed from 1200$ to 1500$ in just 2 months. Do you think it's going to be even higher soon?

People who can answer this question can make a loot of money. Buying bitcoins for investment is like trading stocks. Do not buy it unless you are ready to lose a part of it.
